Rattler Freshmen Blast Highlands
On Thursday night, October 7, a combined Rattler freshmen team hosted the Highlands Owls. The Rattlers came away with a 42-6 triumph in running their season mark to 5-2. San Marcos moves to 2-1 in District 25-5A with the win.
Five
different Rattlers recorded touchdowns on the evening.
Chris Cruz scored twice and ended the night with 5 rushes for 67 yards.
His counterpart, Chris Tovar, scored a touchdown and ran for 85 yards on
just 3 carries. Scott Camacho,
tailback, hit paydirt as he rushed for 44 yards on 3 carries.
Camacho also connected with Chris Garcia on a 48-yard touchdown pass.
With the “white” team playing most of the second half, the Rattlers
were able to coast to victory. White
team running back, Brandon Banks, scored the last Rattler touchdown as he tacked
on 74 yards on 4 carries.
Closing out the scoring for the Rattlers was Albert Fernandez. He was a perfect 6 for 6 on extra point attempts.
The
offensive line of D.J. Hemphill, Michael Moreno, Shawn Ahmad, Willie Sanchez and
Chris Torres did an outstanding job opening holes for the Rattler running backs.
The week he Rattler Purple team will travel to Jefferson High School on
Thursday to take on the Mustangs in a 4:30 contest, while the White team travels
to Lehman High School for a 5:00 contest.
