RATTLER FRESHMEN ROLL OVER SEGUIN
The San Marcos Rattler Freshmen teams traveled to Seguin on Thursday night to take on the Matadors. Both teams were playing in their second District 25-5A contest. The Rattlers manhandled the Matadors as both the Purple and White teams posted shutouts. The Purple team blasted Seguin 53-0 while the White team ran past the Matadors 42-0.
In the first contest of the evening, the White team kept undefeated streak alive as they won their 6th contest of the season. Brandon Banks continues to carry the load for the Rattlers as he reached the endzone four times. He also posted 275 yards rushing. Lucas Mendoza and Kirk Baen also reached paydirt for the Rattlers.
The Rattler defense posted their second consecutive shutout holding the Matadors to only one first down. The defense was lead by Gilbert Cavazos, Lauren Morales, Pasqual Medina, Clint Taylor, Vincent Garza, Michael Bolanos and Joshua Anzaldua. With the win, the White team moves to 2-0 in District 25-5A play.
The Purple team ran its season record to 4-2 as they over powered the Matadors in every phase of the game. Offensively, five backs were able to reach the endzone. The Rattler offense scored consistently throughout the contest as they registered two touchdowns per quarter. Leading the offensive charge for the Rattlers were:

The offensive line of Chris Garcia, Michael Moreno, D.J. Hemphill, Shawn Ahmad, Willie Sanchez and Chris Torres had their best game of the season for the Rattlers.
The Rattler defense recorded their first win in District 25-5A as well as their first shutout of the season. The entire Rattler defensive played an excellent ball game. The Rattlers intercepted 3 Matador passes, recorded 4 sacks, blocked 1 punt and recovered 2 fumbles. Defensive end, Adrian Villanueva, scored a Rattler touchdown as he raced 45 yards after intercepting a Matador pass attempt.
This
week, the Rattlers will entertain the Highlands Owls on Thursday night.
The Purple team will kick things off with a 5:00 contest.
The White will play an undetermined opponent at 7:00.
